Untitled (A Year of Magical Thinking) is an on-going work in progress. Early in the pandemic, before the vaccines had been developed, my mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The next two and half years were an exercise in hope, and practice in not looking directly at impending doom. During the last year, Hurricane Ian formed and threatened Southwest Florida, ultimately destroying my mom and stepdad's house, all while I was there to help care for my mom. Life was absurd, and anything can happen. Nothing perfectly expressed the feeling of dealing with terminal cancer than watching a hurricane form, strengthen, and hit exactly where you wished it didn't. This project will ultimately be put together as a book.
